Manager, Safety and Integrity Analysis

Manager, Safety and Integrity Analysis

Putting this in Eh, It's Probably Fine because the salary is quite wide and I'd like to see the title be a bit more senior given the required qualifications, but otherwise it's nice to see a T&S JD written with such obvious care and skill.

Github | $118,100-$313,300

Steph's Notes:

Communicating the impact of abuse, the impact of our moderation, gaps in our detections, safety risks, and other threats to GitHub to our executive leadership team.

Calling this out because this is a key and core part of Trust and Safety work, but I rarely see it spelled out so clearly in job descriptions. Big green flag for me, as it indicates whoever wrote this JD really knows the work and cares about T&S.

Overview

GitHub is changing the way the world builds software and we want you to help build and secure GitHub. We're looking for an experienced manager to help lead a vibrant and geographically distributed group of engineers and analysts as they protect the home of all developers. The primary goal of this job is to enable each team to do the best work of their lives.

As a Manager, you will lead both machine learning engineering and analyst individual contributors in key roles across our Platform Health teams. At GitHub, Platform Health’s mission is to ensure GitHub’s platform safety through fighting malware, spam and fraud, monitoring for fake accounts, countering inauthentic content, battling crypto mining, and other core areas. You will advocate for your teams and continue to hire a diverse group of incredibly talented people. You will be involved in a range of activities across the team including guiding technical decisions and setting the standard for ensuring abuse and fraud are countered, content is moderated, and users are kept safe.

If you have a foundation in information security, anti-abuse work, online platform trust and safety issues, and enjoy supporting humans across all experience levels from entry-level associates to seasoned senior contributors, and fancy helping build a world class security team, then this might be the gig for you.
